Cyclone Legends Wellness Center

Two thirds of Americans are overweight.  Thirty percent of children are obese.  Type 1 and 2 diabetes in children is on the rise.  Weight training builds muscle and more muscle means more calories burned and a loss of weight.  Studies suggest weight training reduces the risk of diabetes and osteoporosis.  The students are very interested in weight training and more than 50 have enrolled in two classes this year.  When additional classes are made available and out of school opportunities are provided our students will fully participate.

The benefits of a sound weight training program are:

  • Fewer injuries to student athletes
  • Physical fitness for all students
  • More elective classes that focus on physical health and fitness for boys and girls
  • Students who start weight training earlier are stronger and better performers on the field and in the classroom
  • Boys and Girls will come on their own to work out under a coach/teacher supervision
  • Proper instruction will provide safe work outs

We are very excited to launch the phase 2 beautification project at Dorney field.  The cost for this facility is $150,000.  We are looking to our alumni and friends to help raise these funds.

When you attended Bishop Ward did you play sports?  Did you have a favorite coach?  Why not make a donation in his or her honor/memory?

Invest in tomorrow's leaders and support the legacy of BIshop Ward High School with a gift to the Legends Wellness Center.  It is part of Catholic thinking to take care of our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit.  Honor a coach or coaches because of the difference they made in your life by submitting your donation today.  You can continue their legacy and tradition by helping today's students become healthier.

Join fellow alumni and friends, Andy Harding '81, John Tiszka, Pat Crilly '65, Pete Gardner '90, Joe Dick '58, Jim Yoakum '85, Bob McNellis '82, Patty Orth '70, and Joe Ozbolt '62 as they launch the campaign to success!
